The Top Ten Ways to Identify Your Passion in Life

1. Block out time to pursue both what you must do for sustenance and what you must do to develop what you really love to do.

Don't quit your day job while you get in touch with your true desires.

2. Ask 10 people who know you what work or career they can see you in.

Treat this as a survey--do not judge or critique what they say. Simply look for the common thread.

3. Take time to identify your talents.

Provide yourself with "creative time" -- time to be alone with your thoughts, such as when you are commuting, walking, etc. Think about the kind of person you were between the ages of 5 and 9. You were your most authentic self then--what kind of person were you then? Focus on the being (who were you inside), not the doing (the actions).

4. Ask yourself, "What is important to me in a career?"

Keep asking until you have nothing else that comes to mind. These are your values. Now, ask yourself, "What jobs can I hold which will allow me to live these values?"

5. Ask yourself, "Am I overlooking anything that could be an opportunity for me to explore my passion?"

Follow that with, "Am I discounting anything in my life right now which demonstrates my true talents?"

6. Ask, "If I were living my passion, what would I be feeling?"

Identify 5 feelings and act them out -- as though you were already living your passion. Act as if, or "fake it 'til you make it."

7. Pay attention to moments when you lose track of time and keep mental notes about what you are doing at those moments.

Who are you surrounded by in these moments? This helps you to identify your talents and the people who will benefit from your talents.

8. Mentally establish the results you're after (create a vision), then work backwards from those results.

This will help you to design the action plan you will need to make your dream come true.

9. Reframe concepts relating to your success and inject them with your new-found passion.

It's important to acknowledge that where you are right now is what you needed to get you moving to your next step. If you are resisting your current position, you are creating negative energy/thoughts and it will cost you in the long run.

10. Be willing to put yourself in a pinch for both time and money to make your passion work as your livelihood.

The most successful people are those who have dared the Universe to tell them they couldn't accomplish their dream.
